Christmas 2009 - 133 pounds of lovin'. I'm a lucky Papa!

To those of you that have been following my escapades with Ryelee, the Irish Wolfhound and newest member of our family, this is a GNW/Chritmas update. As you know, Ryelee was born on March 1st, 2009. We received her in mid-april. She weighed all of 10 pounds. She's a very happy dog that doesn't understand she's no longer the same size as the 2 Bichons that also share the house with us.

She sings when she's happy or wants attention-very loudly and sometimes very early.....she eats 7-8 cups of food per day....

On Saturday I took her to the vet to weigh her-you see, we bought 6 tubes of Heartworm/flea/tick application, for up to 88 pounds....well, we need supplemental tubes now.....to cover those pounds above the 88 pounds.....want to guess how much this almost 10 month old girl now weighs? Really? Want to guess again? No, really, guess again. O.K., so you're giving up? Would you believe 133? Her parents were about 160 and 180 respectively.....

To all my friends, I wish you the very best of Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year! If you're not my friend, well, I wish you and yours the same-and hope we will soon be friends!

Ryele gets bigger, but not a mean bone in her body-just more and more pounds of love. Have a Merry Christmas!

thanks, Sydney. I think she's pretty special too.....we bought an XL harness for her-easier to walk her. She outgrew the L size one.

Merry Christmas to you also!

She's a beauty. When I was in DC I shared a house with a young lady that had a wolfhound. She said the same thing--got the saddle question often too.

If you look on my FB profile you will see pics of that wolf hound thinking he could fit in the bed with me, my golden and a friends beagle. Whatever.

They are great dogs, enjoy her!

She has sure grown by leaps and bounds since you got her as a puppy! I have never seen an Irish Wolfhound before, so this is really cool to see pictures of her. She has such a sweet, intelligent face:-)

She's a very happy puppy and she can be very smart, though she likes eating dirty socks out of the laundry basket......hope it's a phase.....

Merry Christmas to you and your whole crew!

* I have to ask, does Ryelee sometimes forget that she is not a lap dog? I think that might be the cutest thing when big pups really do not get how big they are!

She does love to jump in the chair next to me and she plays with the Bichons like she thinks she's the same size as them!

Gary,

She looks like a good girl. I'm always happy when I hear a pet has brought so much love to a family.

You and Ben really need to get together and have a doggie love party, LOL!

Hey Perrie-and Happy New Year to you!

Ryelee is a joy, but still a little mischevious.....my wife bought a little toy for the Bichons, one of those nylabone with tennis balls on each end (small one)-Ryelee took it away and shredded it. Wife was not thrilled......she thinks Ryelee is a bully-I maintain she's a (big) puppy.....

Ryelee has now discovered snow. She gets huge balls of icy snow on her when she goes outside, then come sin and floods the mud room when it melts. Ah, the life of having a dog the size of 'Clifford' in real life! :-)

Holy Cow......er puppy! LOL She sure looks like a sweetie though, I love the close up picture, she looks like she is smiling! She is still just a pup though, and will be for another year or so. As to the socks and dog toy, yep, she IS just a puppy. Wife will have to adjust. She doesn't mean to be naughty.

Happy New Year to your family and pets! You are pretty fortunate! :-)

Yeah, she currently has a taste for my son's socks and my wife's, ahem, unmentionables out of the laundry bin........hope she outgrows that!!!!

Thank you and a Happy New Year to you and yours!

Enjoy her--they are great dogs. Fair warning though, even putting the pizza on top of the fridge might not be high enough to keep them out of it.

My golden would talk the wolf hound in to getting the pizza box down for her....of course he was a guy and did what the girl wanted.

We put bell on the back door handle and were teaching her to tell us when she wants to go out. Only problem, she rings it whenever she wants attention....

BTW, thanks for accepting-we're friends on FB, why not here? :-)

Good questioin Gary--don't know. Debbie suggested you to me on FB--she was trying to suck me in. It worked.

Oh and good luck with the pup losing the taste for your wives "unmentionables" --I can't even tell you how many times I've rolled over at night to see my goof laying on the pillow next to me, with guess what in her mouth. That is just gross. She had actually figured out how to open the closet door and pull fun 'toys' out to amuse herself with during the night.

Better that than my glasses though, it got to the point where the eye doc knew my dogs name--and at 2-300 a pair I was loosing my sense of humor after the 3rd pair in 6 months. I'm sticking with the flavored frames theory.

Yup. Ever have that feeling someone is watching you in your sleep so you open your eyes? Oh man...there is nothing like the site of a dog, head on pillow next to you, watching you intently while they eat your glasses. No shame about it either. None.

Its not like I would leave them in the floor either, she would steal them off the night stand!

Ryelee destroyed a bed we bought her-my wife bought someheavyduty fabric and made a new cover and stuffed the oldbedinto it-I think the dog is in big trouble if she destroys this one.
