Despite the compelling evidence that he did not commit the crime he was accused of, tonight, while you are at home with your loved ones, eating a warm meal, enjoying time at home watching your television, playing on the internet, able to kiss your children----

Sgt. Riley is sitting in a prison cell, alone, unable to help his sick wife at home, unable to take care of and kiss his child, unable to EVER obtain a proper job again.

This man who has served almost 8 years for this country, and spent his ENTIRE adult life, doing nothing but fighting for your freedom, no longer has his reputation, career or any way to care for his family, and has lost all of the freedom he has spent his adulthood fighting for.

Well, this was an article as it was an e-mail sent to me-someone complained to NV and they took it down and sent me a note saying it should have been a seed. Well, here it is a seed. Once again, on behalf of Hekofawoman and her daughter, Witty Blonde, I've 'Seeded' fromt he site that Witty Blonde established to help her husband.

This seems to be a case of egos getting in the way of doing what's right. Sgt Riley has served his nation with distinction only to have small minded people get in the way of things.........along with an Officer's Wife or two that feel that they wear their husbands' rank.

I invite you to go to the site and read and draw your own conclusions.

Gary: I am so glad you took the time to seed this for Witty...

I'm horrified at what's been happening with Chris, and I hope that those responsible are court-martialed and punished--severely.

This kind of behavior is appalling--and anyone involved deserves a dishonorable discharge.

This is what I call "Conduct unbecoming an officer of our Armed Forces." When did members of our own military become the enemy?

Apparently, while some were fighting for our rights and freedoms, others were abusing the privilege of being among the rank and file...

Have heard a lot about this story, though much of it seems to be only from SGT Riley's point of view. It would be interesting to hear it from others' points of view as well.

I doubt we'l ever hear their side-they are 'inside'. Sgt Riley is 'outside'. THis is his only avenue it seems-in the police there's a 'thin blue line', in the military, there is a good old boys club where officers protect officers. I hope someone has the integrity to speak up and speak out, though I wouldn't put any moeny on it-once you buck the system, you lose many of those assumed to be 'friends'.

Others who have witnessed the case have told us how much they fully understand the extent to which the situation ranges.

I want to remind everyone, that Chris and I do not dislike the Army, and we don't think that this is something that was the direct fault of the Army. We feel that there were simply five individuals who linked arms to cover up a mistake that one single individual made. They then let it get out of hand, and at that point, they couldn't retract their lies because it had gone too far, and if they did retract them they would be punished for lying, so they let Chris be the fall guy. ---thats the extent of it, short and sweet.

We have full documentation of every allegation we've made, every single piece of information we have given to the general public is backed up by documentation of the event. It is not about our viewpoint, but instead what the evidence shows.

Thank you, WittyBlonde, this is what I gleaned from the situation and it can be in every sector of life. It isn't anything new yet addressed it is very beneficial. I think it is very commendable that many are standing up to clear the situation. This is what we all must practice in life. Those guilty do not need to make all look dishonorable.

This is what happens all too often when you serve an military institution that is just as corrupt as the U.S. congress. That particular chain of command was most likely promoted to their ranks by commanders that were installed/promoted during the Bush regime and are most likely butt licking republicans who know that what they did was wrong but nevertheless feel they deserve to exonerated from any wrongdoing. Kinda like Dick Cheney and Scooter Libby who both operated outside of the of law and got away with it. Just as the Commander in chief (Bush) committed an unlawful act by lying about Iraq in order to take the country to war for the oil industry and military industrial complex. Honestly, the military is indeed corrupt and things like this have been reported numerous times. The military frequently won't prosecute rape cases or sexual harrassment of female soldiers, won't investigate or attempt cover ups of soldiers killed by friendly fire, or track down the billions of dollars they were in charge of safeguarding for distribution in Iraq and Afghanistan. Very much like the US congress. This case absolutely sucks for that soldier and his family !

Mr. Ling, I certainly appreciate your seeing this for what it is, but we are not anti Military, we just want justice. This type of behavior happens everywhere, but we civilian's seem to have more rights to protect ourselves, unlike he was given. It saddens me greatly that there are people that go to sleep each night, living with the cruelties they have imposed on a young couple, my daughter, my son-in-law, my grandchild, me and the rest of our family. I grew up military, 2 of the branches, my daughter is a military brat, and married a fine soldier, he couldn't have found a better wife, and he is a wonderful man. For them to destroy our young soldiers is hideous, disgusting, shameful and they should be ashamed of themselves. Chris continues to hold his head high (why would we go completely global if there was a shadow of a doubt about his innocence, what, to endure more hardship and fingers pointing by none believers, pffft, I don't even think so. Oh, and I need to mention, Chris doesn't even know, to the full extent of what my daughter has done to help clear his name, why? Because he truly is a soldier, he does and has always done what he was taught, to take orders, serve his country and love all with dignity and respect. He didn't even believe he had rights, as if he was/is owned. Another pfttt, they don't own him, he has a contract to serve his county, and he is entitled to what he fights for with his life, the same rights as all of us, FREEDOM. We will get through this, and they will have their day, and we will carry on with our lives. The consequences of what these men did go far beyond Chris, there are so many going through the same thing, and the precedence they set is not acceptable. This has brought a lot of people out of the woods with fear of standing up for themselves, being threatened as they have been, still, and we Thank all, whether they believe him or not, to just allow us the opportunity to have this investigated, as it most certainly was not. Again, thank you for your passions.

She is picking him up tomorrow morning, as he is being released on Appellate leave, and I am most certain, he will be overwhelmed with gratitude and will no doubt shed a tear at the hundreds, and over a thousand on the group that are all their for not only his justice, but for all soldiers that this is happening too. If we do not join together, no matter the outcome, we all lose. Not happening. The hardest things in life are the right thing. Again, thank you.

I wanted to add one more thing, we all have our battles to fight, some are worth losing in order to win the war, I've had my share. What I have learned in my life, is I can't do it alone, and thank God, over time, more and more have made so many changes for our futures, by sticking to together for what's right. It pleases me now to see how many peoples lives have improved for the things I had no one to fight for me.....it matters!

From the documentaries and non-fiction accounts I've read and the attitude of the military higher ups it is widespread.

I've signed the petition and kept up on the posting from fb. I also shared the petition. I have hopes that the publicity will help. I think it is housekeeping time as we should never malign those that serve. What a horrific debacle when they are used as scapegoats.

Thanks, Spikegary for posting this. I hope it generates a lot of traffic.

From what I have seen and heard from other soldiers, situations like our is what leads soldiers to commit the crazy offenses that you see, you just rarely have someone with the gonads to stand up and speak out about the events that led up to their downfall.

Might I add, if you google Fort Bragg, it is quite famous in recent years for having soldiers lose it.

If my husband was capable of committing the crime that he was accused of, he would have probably lost it too. He is far more stable and of sound mind than they have made him out to be.

It takes a very strong person to stand up for what is right and not succumb to the pressure of the event. Christopher is a hero in my opinion as his strength is a testament to the finest of our military. To be falsely accused is devastating and can take a person down. Christopher shows he's not willing to be taken apart by the offensives of others. What a great example he is for all of us.

Reading the article, the dates don't add up. Did he face court martial in 2011 or in 2012? Some of the "witness" statements purport to be from June 2011, so how would they be applicable to a trial 6 months earlier? If the CM was last month, then I will write to Senator Levin, head of the Armed Forces Committee and ask him to look into it. This whole thing sounds like a damn kangaroo court.

An appeal of the conviction is a mandatory. Looking at any connection between the chain of command and/or the judge, is also a must. With the flimsy evidence presented, and even the prosecution seeming not quite able to believe the outcome, there seems to be quite a few facts missing and in need of checking into. Military "justice" is more about punishment than it is true justice. That the sentence was so harsh for such little evidence presented, screams that someone appears to be hiding the truth of the real reason for prosecution.

If anyone knows more about the case and can answer the dateline questions, please let me know. I want to try to help Sgt Riley and family by more than just moral support, so the timeline is essential information. Sen. Levin has helped me in the past, and will hopefully check into this case more thoroughly than what the military did.

Best wishes to you Sgt Riley, and thank you for your service and your sacrifices for this country.

Thank you for posting for me btw.

I haven't had much of a chance to talk one on one with anyone, it's been an extremely busy few weeks.

Chris will be home on Friday, I am leaving Thurs. night to go retrieve him up in Va (his sentence will be done with) but he is still now a convicted felon, and we're working on figuring out how to pay for my medical bills and our home and cars and stuff, I am probably going to be a lot less reachable once he's home because I will have to be the one working for now because no job that Chris can get will pay the bills...

so you can imagine all were juggling right now.

Keep your chin up and let's see what we can do about this bull@!$%# kangaroo court. Be prepared for some blow back from TPTB because they don't take kindly to anyone questioning their authority, as Chris knows all too well.

Good luck to you and your family and tell Chris thanks for his service to this oftentimes ungrateful country, from me and all the others who support you.

As a friend stated recently, weak, toxic leadership leads to situations such as this. I hope Sgt Rily gets his full say in court and is fully exonerated, his military status with honors restored, granted backpay for time income that was lost, and so on.

Toxic leadership is all too common in many professions. It is a problem where I work too.

I watched the Pat Tillman story tonight on dvd and talk about a cover up, lies, and manipulation tactics! That whole situation was the epitomy of on up through the ranks of Geneals upward to Donald Rumsfield. during the formal investigation, every one of them lied through their teeth feigning ignornance and poor memory. All to save their own arses! Cowards!

As long as people in leadership and command positions are allowed to get away with that type of unacceptable behavior, it will continue and there will be more victims until the toxity in command is eradicated.

The best of luck to Chris and Katie Riley as they fight this 'good ole boy' injustice!

I read Jon Krackauer's book about Pat Tillman and have sticky marks all through it. I did watch the movie also along with dozens of documentaries. The cover up approach is hot and heavy in the military (and elsewhere for that matter) and it is so sad that the innocent get caught in this debacle. The more information we get out there the better chance that the guilty will be held accountable.

Hi Ellie-long time, no see, please get this out as much as possible. The only thing that seems to work with these people is the light of day shining into the crevices they inhabit. I can't stand the CYA routine-I've seen it happen before. It's not right and it shows zero integrity by the leadership in some parts of the Army.

The Military men and women do actually live with the fact that we can be, at any time, the frontline-and we have an all volunteer military. These kinds of things happen, how many will continue to volunteer? Thee is a trust-leadership takes care of us, we do what leadership orders us to do. That's how it's supposed to work-when one side drops the ball, the whole thing comes to a screaming halt. Sad that people there cannot see the big picture.

Not sure either Gary, but I don't care (and no, it was just clipped from your seed). I will have my own version to write about, as I was present through a lot of it). Too bad a simple gal like me can see the obvious obstruction of justice, but you know already that it's safer in numbers when one is fighting alone, so yes, it's helping a lot for all and any support she gets. Thanks again. I just don't want to ruffle any feathers, just be, and it's not that serious to be slapped on the hand, I have forgotten a lot, but I'm a decent person, so I didn't do anything to be rebellious, just a simple mistake, I'm grown, LOL (sometimes) I have to laugh about everything a little, least I die a bitter woman with cats, hahaha

Okay everyone, I have a NEW TASK for everyone who believes in Chris's innocence.
If you have viewed this case at all, and feel that Chris IS innocent, as our friends and family do.
Do this for us; Type up a letter (this is called a clemency letter), addressed to "Whom this may concern" explaining why you believe that Chris is innocent, and that you feel he should receive Clemency by the CG. This can include any experiences you've had, any explanation as to why you feel it is important to grant him clemency etc.
Sign it with your contact info and EMAIL it to me, so that I may turn it over to the lawyer....
My email is: Kichmank7470@student.faytechcc.edu
OKAY GO!!!!

Thanks everyone in advance to those of you who take the time out of their days to do this for our family.

Before I CC your state reps/senators with the letter, have you contacted them yet? If not, I will make sure they also get a copy of the letter. If you have, I will ask Sen Levin to contact them for additional info/insight. The more people that are notified of this bs, the better.

Katie spoke with one them today, after I called and spoke to one of his "nice" guys and within 2 seconds of my call he was calling her. HAHAHAHAH, he really insulted her intelligence and well.............we know the difference betweeen someone really concerened and actually doing their job, vs...someone talking in circles, skirting the issue..........Election year...well they screwed up big time. Media, here we come.....I'll keep you posted as I'm going to record it so I can send it to anyone who misses this.

I think we are finally catching on to those that talk out of both sides of their mouth, Pj. They've left themselves wide open with their bad habits. Election time here we come.

Thanks for the update. I feels so good to hear positive news for Chris & Katie. You deserve this big time.

The General has now been contacted, (finally) and we are feeling pretty good about this:) Katie assured him, we would wait to see if he does anything, meaning soon, or I guess he won't mind the embarrassment it will cause under his Command. I would think, being that Chris's case isn't high profile, it shouldn't take but a few minutes to figure out the injustice that was served......if 1 man can ruin anothers life in a "day", then another can fix it in a "day" as well.

And yes, Gary, of course I'll keep you up-dated, as I'll be screaming from the roof tops when this is over.......no, each step of the way:)

Sounds good. Lots of 'personality' gets into these things. I hope it all works out for the best, as it should.

Gary I don't know much, but I do know one thing for certain...........God has a bigger plan for my family, and we will pray for his will and that is the road we will take, always. No one can truly hurt us, but our fears, they have gotten in the way, but I will no longer give these few the power to understand who i is truly in charge of our lives, God!

You know I read thru the info on the link, and I've read all of the comments on here and something strikes me as strange here.

Why did I not see any mention of the Red Cross being contacted when the medical crisis happened to his wife?

After all that is what they are there for(or were when I was in) and they tend to have a good amount of "pull" with the military.

It seems to me that if they had been contacted and had pushed for an emergency leave this could have been avoided.

I always had good luck with the Red Cross when I was on active duty. I wonder if anyone explained that route or not.

I wonder if anyone explained that route or not.

That was what I first thought when reading the attached blog entry.

Until I saw that there was a retired LTC involved.

HE should have known better and advised them to get the Red Cross involved. They could have gotten the man out of Iraq and home before any of the things that brought the charges happened.

kazutam - because the Red Cross message was intercepted and Chris was sent away and never got it. He never knew. My daughter is the one that reported him for violating her Hippa rights..and that is when they went after Chris. Not because he took the message, but because he called and said he was Chris and used Chris SS#. They actually stated they would ruin his career, and they did. And.......from there it snowballed. The "only" time Chris was ever notified of a Red Cross message, is when they threw a crumpled up sticky note stating the weight and sex of his newborn child, he kept that with him always. And yes, the Red Cross was notified by the hospital itself, for his return, and it was denied, and like I said, he was never informed.

I'm sad to hear that the Red Cross has slipped so much in taking care of the troops.

They never would of let something like that slide in the past.

When I was in they used to require confirmed responses from the commanding officers also, not just the individual, and they would follow up on things.

It wasn't the Red Cross, they did there part, it was the Capt. that screwed up, and denied Chris. They are not to blame, I support the Red Cross, always have...and always will, they are the Best!

Here is where I'm at, finally, it takes what it takes"

Yea, I'm still up, my only night to be up.......lol I have been given the task of thinking about what is more important, fighting or forgiving............letting God take the wheel. While I'm really good at setting those boundaries in my life, right now, so powerless over my daughters situation, I'm giving it to God...my friend, my father, my savior. I know it's time and the right time for me, the groundwork has been set, the footwork has been done...now it is God's time to work his miracles, shall we allow him! Continue to follow, I will update you, but I'm turning a lot of this over, it doesn't mean for a minute I quit fighting, but to sit back and see what those that have been invited to do, do. God will do the rest.........I have complete trust in that. After all, I saw a miracle baby born, my daughter was spared her life, her husband is now home, (mind you, he is now out of imminent danger), so........I say, it's what it is...........those that wished him harm, spared him his life, all Gods work, how funny the twist do turn in our favor. We will keep fighting or rather "sharing" our/ their story, and whatever happens, is what God wants for all of us, in the end, it's called "acceptance". I'm there. I have gone to my knees over this and asked God to take it from me, as it's too big for me, and I can't do what his willl for us is....only he knows, and I trust this, implicitly.

Thanks all for who are here, this has been really difficult, so I have to do what is right for me........turn it over, I am not so powerful, never have been. But, I know who is...............life can be distracting, and confusing. It can make one angry, which only turns over control to all that is bad, I will not. I wil stand by my heart, my beliefs, as always and win the war that God wants for my family, by just being patient, and keeping my faith. That is something no one can take away from me, ever.
